Essential maintenance for the Kidman Way bridge over Benerembah Channel

Essential maintenance for the Kidman Way bridge over Benerembah Channel Essential maintenance is being carried out on the Kidman Way bridge that crosses the Benerembah Channel, south of Griffith, to ensure it remains safe for motorists.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said work would be carried out from next week to strengthen the bridge by installing steel support beams.

“Transport is committed to ensuring the safety of all road users. This maintenance work will ensure the bridge continues to service the community while we plan for a replacement bridge,” the spokesperson said.

Helen Dalton MP said “Transport for NSW have listened to feedback provided by the community and delivered the desired outcome. I’m pleased to see rural NSW infrastructure finally being recognised as crucial following years of neglect from the coalition Government”.

The announcement also includes planning to upgrade the Kidman Way intersections with North Kooba Settlers Road, Pellizer Road, Waide Road and Marston Road to improve safety at the bridge and its approaches.

Repair work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays from Monday 26 June to Friday 4 August, weather permitting.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place for the safety of motorists and workers, including traffic control, a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h and occasional single lane closures to allow a crane to safely install support beams. Motorists are advised to allow an extra five minutes of travel time for their journey.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
