Become a Justice of the Peace
Justices of the Peace play an essential part in the legal system and across the NSW community. JP volunteers provide a valuable and important service to the community or place of employment.
To become a JP, you need to be nominated by a Member of Parliament.
Applicants must be Australian citizens, aged 18 years or older and they must be of good character. They must also be eligible to vote at a NSW general election.
Each applicant must also attend an interview with the MP who is providing the nomination.
The online application starts the process, but your nomination will need to be approved and submitted by your State MP.
